What is it?
Rehab at Home is a hospital substitute treatment program for rehab services in the comfort of your home rather than staying in hospital. It lets you receive short-term therapy services like physio and wound care after surgery at home – as long as your doctor agrees!
What's it for?
Rehab at Home can help you recover from:
- joint replacements
- fractures
- neurological conditions
- respiratory conditions
- cardiac conditions
- problems and falls
- spinal conditions
Rehab at Home services include treatment such as:
- physiotherapy
- occupational therapy
- wound care
- care coordination
How does it work?
If you’re having surgery that requires inpatient rehabilitation to recover, you can let your doctor know you’re covered for home rehab as another option for treatment!
If your doctor thinks home treatment will work for you, they can simply refer you to one of our contracted health providers who will set you up and develop a care plan that’s right for you.
Listen to the professional – your doctor will know where the best place is for you to recover, so access to the program is dependent on their referral.
How will it help?
Our healthcare providers give you access to a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist in the comfort of your home. They will work with your doctor to ensure your treatment plan is right for you, help with your rehab recovery and get you back on your feet before you know it.
The program includes:
- physiotherapy
- occupational therapy
- wound management
- help with planning and understanding your care
On top of that, our providers will make sure that your home is safe and suitable for the care you need.
RBHS has a number of healthcare providers to deliver the best care to you.
The services are delivered by a dedicated care team including registered and enrolled nurses, allied health professionals such as physios, occupational therapies and medical officers. They will help coordinate care and work with the member’s GP and other health professionals to provide a safe and effective treatment. You’re in safe hands!
The care plan for treatment is personalised to your individual needs for recovery.
All your treatment information is kept completely confidential with our contracted healthcare providers. We will not have access to any personal health information you give them, but if you would like to read our Privacy Policy to make sure, click here.
Not at all. If you hold our Gold Hospital cover and have served your 2-month waiting period, you are fully covered and it will not cost you a thing. If there are any costs for you direct with the provider – it does not affect your rates with us either. We just pay the bill.
These programs are all optional and it is your decision to use them or not. If you would like any further information, please contact us on 1800 027 299 or email info@myrbhs.com.au.
