Combined cover is when you take out both hospital and extras insurance together.
Hospital insurance is used for admissions to hospital as a private patient and extras insurance is cover for non-hospital treatments such as dental, optical, physiotherapy and other complementary therapies.
Our combination covers include:
• Gold Hospital with Premium Extras
• Bronze Plus Hospital with Premium Extras
For comprehensive coverage we recommend a combination of Gold Hospital and Premium Extras. If you take out our combination cover, you’ll also receive a reduced premium.
With combination cover, you get:
- hospital cover
- extras cover
- a rebate on your cover (subject to income and age)
- ambulance cover (see below)
- avoid Lifetime Health Cover loading
- Avoid paying Medicare Levy Surcharge
- Access Australia-wide coverage at more than 535 hospitals with 40,000 medical specialists
- lock in your age-based discount for under 30s (only available on our Gold Hospital cover)
Who needs combination cover?
The choice is completely up to you, but generally we need that bit more help as we get older.
Ambulance cover
One thing that RBHS includes as a bonus is 100% land, air and sea ambulance cover with no annual limits with every RBHS cover.* A short trip in an ambulance can be very expensive.
*State-recognised ambulance providers only.
